What's New for the 2023 Subaru Outback?

The Subaru Outback has been a strong contender among SUV shoppers with active lifestyles. This roomy crossover delivers the functionalities of a rugged wagon, and it is offered in various trim levels to meet the needs of many drivers. In 2020, the Outback was boldly redesigned and benefited from updates throughout as its sixth generation debuted. Subaru has advanced the model further with various mid-generational updates made in more recent years. Before making your next SUV purchase, you should be aware of the improvements in the 2023 Subaru Outback.

The differences between the 2022 and 2023 Outback begin on the exterior with moderate design improvements. If you opt for the 2023 Subaru Outback, your crossover will have a spunky style with raised ground clearance and thick molding across the lower body. These functional aspects of the Outback’s design combine with a tapered roofline and a rounded nose. The front end has LED-enhanced lights, a sporty bumper, and a small grille. Depending on the 2023 Outback trim you select, your crossover may come with exterior features like LED foglights, heated and power-folding side mirrors, a sunroof, auto headlamps, flared fenders, a roof rack, up to 18-inch wheels, and all-terrain tires.

There are also a few improvements to the 2023 Outback’s safety and interior features. In the Touring trim level, for example, the collision mitigation system has been enhanced. In addition, the infotainment system has been updated across all trims and now includes wireless smartphone integration. The entry-level Outback for 2023 continues to come with desired features like a pair of stacked 7-inch screens, adaptive cruise control, forward collision mitigation, automatic climate control, lane-keep assist, and more. The more advanced trims continue to offer an integrated navigation system, a hands-free liftgate, a blind-spot monitor with a rear cross-traffic alert, a dual-zone auto climate control system, heated front seats, and one 11.6-inch display screen in the center stack.

While many aspects of the 2023 Outback have been improved, its stellar performance capabilities hold steady. An 182-horsepower, four-cylinder, 2.5-liter system is found in most trims and includes an automatic continuously variable transmission. The top two trims continue to have a 260-horsepower, 2.4-liter, four-cylinder system. Both engines are combined with hill descent control and all-wheel drive. Higher trims also give you additional driving modes, a front skid plate, an upgraded AWD system, and a lifted suspension.
