Serving Troy, MI

Are you shopping for a capable vehicle that meets all of your functional needs without sacrificing on style, comfort, or technologies? The Subaru Outback is a stunning wagon that has been completely redesigned for the 2020 model year, and this model has been a preferred option for more than 25 years. You may be curious about how it differs from the Subaru Ascent. The 2020 Subaru Ascent is a midsize crossover SUV that provides you with three rows of seating. Notably, the Ascent is currently the most spacious vehicle offered by Subaru. At Suburban Subaru, we want to support your continued comparison of these models.

The 2020 Outback is offered in seven trims, and the first five trims are available with the same engine. This is a 2.5-liter, BOXER 4-cylinder engine that will impress you with 182 horsepower. The top two engines come with a 2.4-liter turbocharged, BOXER 4-cylinder engine that is capable of producing 260 horsepower. These are all paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission.

In comparison, the 2020 Subaru Ascent is available in four trims, and these are all equipped with a 2.4-liter turbocharged, BOXER 4-cylinder engine. As is the case with the top two Outback trims, the Ascent provides you with 260 horsepower and has the same transmission. All trims for the Outback and Ascent come with symmetrical all-wheel drive.

As a 2-row wagon, the Outback has a distinctive look with a prominent hood, high ground clearance, and a sloped roof. The nose is well-rounded and features an aggressive lower fascia. It comes with 17-inch or 18-inch alloy wheels, all-season tires, raised roof rails, LED or adaptive LED headlights, foglamps, and other exterior equipment. The 2020 Subaru Ascent is larger than the Outback across all dimensions, but it has equivalent ground clearance. It has deeper contouring along the sides, a larger grille, and sharper headlights. Some of its many exterior features include raised roof rails, 18-inch to 20-inch wheels, all-season tires, projector-beam or LED responsive headlights, and more.

With many differences in standard and optional features found throughout the trims of these two models, you have ample opportunity to pick out a new car or SUV that meets all of your needs when you choose from the Outback and the Ascent. Some of the standard equipment between these two models are cloth or leather upholstery, heated seats in the first and second rows, a leather steering wheel, HomeLink, adaptive cruise control, a sunroof, keyless access, keyless ignition, and other equipment
