Performance
The Subaru brand is well-recognized for producing models with stellar performance capabilities, and the 2023 Ascent and the Outback both live up to this reputation. The Outback’s primary engine offered in most trims is a 182-horsepower, 2.5-liter, four-cylinder system. It is combined with an auto continuously variable transmission. The Outback Onyx Edition for 2023 has the same powertrain you will find in every trim for the 2023 Ascent. This is a 260-horsepower, turbo 2.4-liter, four-cylinder system. All-wheel drive is standard for all Ascent and Outback trims in the 2023 model year.
Appearance
During your next visit to Suburban Subaru, you can conveniently compare the 2023 Outback directly to the 2023 Ascent. By doing so, you will see that both of these Subaru models have tall ground clearance, roof crossbars and rails, and thick molding rolling across the wheel wells and sides. The smaller Outback has a compact grille, substantial molding on the nose, and triangular headlights. Conversely, the Ascent has a larger grille with only a touch of molding on the nose. The standout headlights are larger, and a thin LED ribbon beautifully accents them.

These include adaptive cruise control, heated front seats, forward collision mitigation, wireless smart device app connectivity, lane-keeping assist, a dual-zone climate control system, a push-button ignition, and a hands-free liftgate. The 2023 Ascent is offered with a few features that are not available in the Outback.
